The position of a restaurant job manager is one of the most important one ina restaurant. Out of all the employees working in a restaurant, themanager is the one assigned complete responsibility of the restaurant. Thisposition generally requires prior restaurant work experience and formaleducation in the hospitality business.
A restaurant manager is required to accomplish various tasks to ensure thesmooth functioning of the restaurant. Some of the important tasks which areexecuted by a restaurantmanagement jobs are:
Customer Service:
This is one of the most important functions of a manager. He should excel inevery department of customer service and also ensure that his staff toopractices and understands the need to keep the customer happy.
Staff Hiring:
Every business requires competent employees to function well. A restaurant manager needs to assess the qualities of a prospectiveemployee and hire him if he believes he will be of value to the business. Amanager has the final say when it comes to hiring or dismissing anemployee.
Advertising and Marketing:
From preparing the budget to creating promotional ideas to placing ads,everything falls under the domain of a restaurant manager. Every aspect ofmarketing and advertising needs to be approved by him.
Buying Inventory:
A manager should be well aware of every transaction being carried out in therestaurant. He has to make sure that the restaurant does not run out ofinventory including food items, dishes, table cloths etc. For this, he shouldkeep in touch with the respective heads of every department and address theirissues accordingly.
Employee Scheduling:
A manager is required to provide the shift timings to all the employees. Heshould ensure that no department remains without essential employees in anygiven shift. He also has to approve of leaves submitted by the employees.
